Disciplinary Committee suspends Leicestershire vet

The Disciplinary Committee of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons last week [22 July 2010] suspended a veterinary surgeon from the Register for nine months for convictions regarding docking puppies’ tails and driving offences, and for failing to obtain a client’s consent to treatment or explore other treatment options.

RCVS: concerned about Panorama allegations and will investigate

We are concerned about allegations raised by tonight’s Panorama programme, and would like to reassure the public that we will investigate the claims made, says veterinary regulatory body, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, commenting on ‘It Shouldn’t Happen at a Vet’s’ (BBC 1, 9pm 22 July).

VNs do value the reward of helping animals back to health

An article in the Daily Mail today, ahead of Panorama’s “It shouldn’t happen at a vets’” due to be screened tonight at 9pm, has raised questions about the role of unqualified veterinary nursing assistants in the practice team, and the commitment of veterinary nurses more generally.
